YouTube videos are automatically unlisted or set to private for many

YouTube is the most popular video platform today. Since being acquired by Google in 2006, the service has constantly seen many improvements.

An important part of the YouTube ecosystem are content creators. After all, they are what attract the audience to the platform. To reward their work, Google allows them to monetize their YouTube channels by meeting certain requirements.

However, currently, many content creators on YouTube are facing an issue that may affect the visibility and performance of their videos.

More specifically, there is an issue where YouTube videos are unlisted or automatically set to private without creators being able to do anything about it (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7).

YouTube videos are automatically set to private

According to multiple reports, every video that many content creators try to upload to YouTube is set to “private.”

Some weird glitches on #YouTube this morning. I assure you my video is not private. I see others are also having issues with live streams. Try updating the app, someone said that fixes the problem. 🤷‍♂️

Okay, I guess I can’t release the videos today. No idea what the heck is going on, every video I try to post is set to private even though it’s public on the dashboard… @TeamYouTube Any help?

However, it should be noted that the content creators have received comments on these videos. This shouldn’t be possible as users shouldn’t be able to access a private video.

Will this video be shown privately for you? https://youtu.be/nXiYE6V6w80

I think youtube has a bit of a problem lol. Some people say the video is private, but usually you can’t comment on private videos, so… It will probably be ok soon.

So, the above suggests that this issue might actually be a visual bug.

Some YouTube videos are even unlisted by the platform

In some cases, YouTube content creators’ videos are not even featured on the platform, which can directly affect their visibility and therefore their monetization.

@YouTube video was public on my channel, came first and public video only. But my apparently unlisted video went at the time of viewing. Now this video again has not been public for more than 6 days going to watch time. Hence it took so long to return watch time and remonet my channel.

The YouTube team is investigating

The YouTube team is aware of the issue and is investigating. However, there is no information on an estimated arrival date for a fix just yet.

Thanks for the URL – we’ve seen similar reports of this issue with videos being automatically made private/unlisted and we’ll forward yours as well. Note that we already take care of that.
