Viral hack check: Chef Pankaj Bhadouria reveals the correct way to clean the bottom of a pan

Whether it’s a delicious chicken curry or a fluffy omelet, feasting on these homemade dishes is always a healthy experience. However, when you’re done eating, you’re left with a pile of utensils and cutlery to clean up. While wiping the curry off steel spoons and ceramic plates may be easy, pans, especially the bottoms, become difficult to work with. Not everyone is a star chef and it’s normal for most of us to mess up when we cook. As the curry sizzles in the pan, it usually drips down the sides of the utensil and onto the bottom. Over time, more and more dried curry and food residues accumulate on the floor, which are difficult to wipe off. Now we know that the internet is flooded with lifehacks that claim to make this fight easier, and before you try any of them, chef Pankaj Bhadouria checked to make sure they really work.

In an Instagram post, the chef tries one of the viral hacks to clean the bottom of your pan. As per the trick, she first takes a dirty pan and sprinkles some salt on the bottom before pouring baking soda over it. Then she squeezes some liquid detergent on the underside and rubs it gently. The chef then covers the bottom with some tissue papers before pouring in vinegar and letting stand for 10 minutes.

Here comes the moment of truth. The chef tries to wipe the floor clean after the process, but in vain.

You don’t need to worry though as Chef Pankaj Bhadouria has another hack that really works. She takes a toilet cleaner, pours it onto the bottom of the pan and rubs it gently before setting it aside for about 10 minutes. After that, she rubs the bottom again to show that the pan has actually gotten clean.

At the end, the cook has a tip for everyone that you shouldn’t let your pan get that dirty in the first place and if you do, then her mince is always there.
