New updates will be added at the end of this story â¦â¦.
The original story (published September 15, 2021) follows:
YouTube is one of the most visited websites on the Internet after Google. It has also maintained its position as one of the largest online video sharing platforms for years.
Although the service has more than 2 billion users, there are many bugs and issues that affect users on the platform. In fact, it’s riddled with so many bugs that we have our own YouTube bug tracker.
One of the reasons for this is that the video sharing service is rich in functionality and available on a variety of platforms. Nevertheless, many now report a new bug with the comment function.
It has been reported that users are unable to comment on YouTube videos and are instead greeted with an “This action is not allowed” error message.
YouTube’s comments section is one of the most important aspects that allows people to interact with others and share whatever they want.
This is the primary way for content creators to interact with their viewers and get direct feedback from their viewers.
Every time I try to comment on the app or website I get this message. The thing is, I was looking for that term in this help and people are saying that their account has been banned. But I don’t think mine did as I didn’t even get an email about it and I’m good at watching and liking videos. Can someone please help?
HI, I am a co-user of Google. I have the same problem, I have a channel but I haven’t uploaded a video in the last 2-3 months. Suddenly 7 days ago I received a critical security warning â . Then I changed my password and logged in afterwards, but now the problem has occurred. THIS ACTION IS NOT ALLOWED TO REPEAT TAPPING.
So many were furious when they learned they couldn’t leave a comment on any video. While YouTube prevents banned accounts from commenting on videos, users indicated that their account was not banned.
People say they tried to contact YouTube support and reached out to the company, but there was no response. Deleting the data and reinstalling updates doesn’t seem to work either.
It looks like users couldn’t comment on YouTube because users were using VPN. Disabling VPN seems to have fixed the problem for some.
While it’s still unclear why YouTube and Google are doing this, people who can’t access YouTube without a VPN won’t be able to comment on videos right now.
We believe YouTube is blocking certain VPN IP addresses due to spamming issues, but it looks like their approach is affecting VPN users in general.
YouTube has not yet recognized the problem. However, we will be in touch with more details as soon as we receive new information.
Update 1 (September 17th)
11:03 am (IST): YouTube now says that the problem where users could not post comments on the platform has now been resolved.
Update 2 (December 09)
10:51 a.m. (ACTUAL): One of the affected users now notes that a workaround for this comment problem is to disable VPN if it is in use.
Hey, that happened to me too – my VPN on my phone generated an Action not allowed message. Maybe this helps.
