Pokémon brilliant diamond and shining pearl: How to unlock the mysterious gift function

The distribution of Mystery Gifts in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl has already started, and there are also some very special gifts for early purchase. To get your hands on them, you must have unlocked the in-game Mystery Gift feature – if that’s exactly what you’re looking to learn, you’ve come to the right place.

There are actually two ways to unlock the Mystery Gift feature in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, with one being a bit faster than the other.

The method that cannot be overlooked

The first of these is a route not to be missed – once you beat Maylene, the Veilstone City Gym Leader, you should see the option in your game’s menu. If you can wait until then (she is the third gym leader) there is nothing else you need to do. Simple.

The faster way

However, you can unlock the Mystery Gift feature a little earlier.

Once you’ve defeated Roark, the first Gym Leader in Oreburgh City, return to Jubilife City (to the west of Roark’s mining-oriented hometown. Instead of going north towards Floaroma City, now go to Jubilife TV station.) the west side of the city.

Go to the 3rd floor and you should find someone to ask about your favorite TV shows. Select the option “ALL HAPPY WI-FI CONNECTION” – a nice little reference to Diamond and Pearl on the Nintendo DS – and the Mystery Gift function will be activated.
