The Michelin Guide inspectors have added four DC restaurants which are marked as new on the guide’s website.

The restaurants are not starred or Bib Gourmand restaurants – at least not yet – but are presented as new restaurants that the inspectors consider worthy of new discoveries in the district. They are:

  • Caribbean cuisine restaurant Bammys in Navy Yard
  • New Orleans restaurant serving cuisine Dauphines, on 15th and L Street Northwest in downtown DC
  • Vietnamese restaurant by Chef Kevin Tien Moon rabbit, at The Wharf on DC’s Southwest Waterfront
  • Vegetarian oriented Oyster oyster, at City Market at O on 8th Street, Northwest.

Michelin said the inclusion of DC restaurants in the “new” category reveals new culinary gems year round.

“As the restaurant industry continues to face unprecedented challenges and uncertainties, we hope these regular revelations and selection updates throughout the year provide opportunities to highlight the profession and invite everyone to discover and support the restaurants around them,” said Gwendal Poullennec, international director of The Michelin Guides.

Michelin will announce any additions – or reductions – to its star and bib gourmand restaurants in DC next spring.

In April, the company added four more Michelin-starred restaurants to its DC Guide, bringing the total number of Michelin-starred restaurants in DC to 23. In addition, four restaurants have been added to its DC Bib Gourmand List for restaurants that offer good food at reasonable prices.

The first Michelin Guide to DC Restaurants was published in 2016.

You probably wouldn’t know a Michelin inspector if you saw one in a restaurant. But Michelin gave WTOP a few pointers on how to potentially spot one.
