Five obscure iPhone hacks that are easy to miss — and one will instantly improve your texts

YOUR iPhone is packed with useful features that can save you time in everyday life.

The problem is that some of them are easy to miss if you don’t know where to look – here are five you might have missed.

1. Turn the Apple logo into a hidden button

The Apple logo on the back of your iPhone is actually a secret button.

The little-known feature makes life a whole lot easier – you can take screenshots and change the volume with just a tap on the back of your handset.

To enable the feature, make sure you have updated to iOS 14 or later. To do this, go to Settings > General > Software update.

Then go to your settings. Scroll down and tap Accessibility > Touch > Tap Back. You have the choice to activate double tap or Triple tap.

Regardless of what you choose, you have the same options.

Click here to see what features you can now control with a double or triple tap on the back of your phone.

These include taking screenshots, increasing or decreasing the volume, zooming in on your display, scrolling up or down a page, and more.

For example, if you want to use a double tap to take screenshots, press the double tap option and then select screenshot.

Now you should be able to take a screenshot simply by double tapping the back of your phone.

2. Long press Apps for quick access

When you tap and hold an app on your iPhone home screen — known as a long press — a quick menu opens with shortcuts to the most popular features.

Just tap one of the options to quickly launch the app with the feature of your choice.

For example, long-pressing the Camera app lets you quickly tap to record a video, take a selfie, take a portrait photo, and more.

Tap and hold the Notes app to quickly open a new note, add a photo, or scan a document.

3. Secret keyboard trackpad

This hidden keyboard trackpad trick lets you move back and forth between each character in a piece of text without having to furiously tap the display.

It’s useful when you don’t have nimble fingers and find it difficult to tap the exact letter you need to edit in a text box.

If you’re using the standard iPhone keyboard, simply hold down the spacebar when you’re entering text.

The keys become blank and the cursor on the screen enlarges.

You can slide your finger along the blank keyboard from left to right to quickly move the cursor back and forth.

4. Record a soundtrack while recording a video

There’s a handy way to spice up your iPhone videos with an epic soundtrack.

Just play some music through your phone speakers using your favorite music app like Spotify or Apple Music.

Open the camera app while your tune is still playing. Make sure your camera is set to photo mode – not video.

Tap and hold the trigger and drag it to the right. Your iPhone will start recording a video while your music continues to play in the background.

5. Shortcut to jump to the top of a page

You can quickly jump to the top of an app page or website by tapping at the top of your screen.

This little-known shortcut saves you from having to scroll up repeatedly when you want to go back to the beginning of what you’ve just read.

Once you’re at the top of a page in Safari and third-party apps like Google Chrome, you can drag the screen down and release to refresh an app or website.
