Cleaning: Mrs Hinch fans share 79p hack to keep washing machine seals from going black

Ms. Hinch, whose real name is Sophie Hinchliffe, gained popularity after sharing her cleaning tips and recommendations on social media and television. The cleaning enthusiast has managed to gain over 4.1 million followers on Instagram. Now their fans have started their own social media groups devoted to cleaning and tidying up tips.

“Powder enzymes keep mold and black out in the drawer.”

A third user said, “Every few washes I machine clean with detox and bleach in the powder bowl.

“I’ve also switched back to powder instead of capsules and liquids.

“That stopped the smell from the sink because our washing machine and sink, like in many new houses, run down the same pipe – double the profit!”

A fourth wrote, “Alternate between powder and liquid, regularly do hot powder washes, and leave the door ajar between washes.”

However, other users suggested using white vinegar to remove the black substance from the washing machine’s seal.

One person suggested, “Cleanse with white vinegar.”

Another commented: “I was advised by a washing machine engineer to use powder but put it in the drum instead of the drawer and white vinegar instead of fabric softener so that the drawer of my machine is not used.”

A third said, “Soak a cloth in white vinegar and press it into the edge. Takes away all of the black mold. “

Other suggestions from cleaning enthusiasts are the use of salt, Dettol, dishwasher tabs, zoflora, and soda crystals.
