It’s back to school again! Families prepare for the new school year by filling out their supplies lists and buying clothes. One thing that you shouldn’t overlook is the organization of your home. This time of year can be very stressful for parents and children, but being organized will help you manage your day-to-day life and make your life easier.
We searched the internet for back-to-school life hacks and came up with some creative ideas. To start with, a family calendar is a must. Let’s face it, our children’s schedules tend to be even more chaotic than we parents. Also, not only should activities like sports and extracurricular activities be included on the calendar, but calendars should also be used for school projects and tests to help children stay on track. I think we all announced a school project less than 24 hours in advance that our kids were coming up to at the last minute, and we were desperate to put together some kind of diorama. And for whatever reason, my kids tend to pick the most obscure subject. Anyway, having a calendar with this pre-made plan will make life easier for everyone.
Time management is another key to a stress-free day. We found a life hack that color codes a clock that breaks down what to do at each part of the day. From homework to playtime to exercising, it helps to keep the kids at work and let them know how much time they have for each part of the day.
Another great tip is an assembly line for lunch. The organization of food in the pantry makes it easier for the children to help. All they have to do is choose an item from each basket, such as a drink or a snack. If they play an active role in the lunch meal they won’t complain about their lunch. You did it!
Finally, organize your home with a shelf and school supplies caddy. Both are great ways to keep track of backpacks, art supplies, rulers, and calculators.
We hope you find some of these ideas useful. Good luck this school year!
