AMES, Iowa (AP) — Avery Anderson III threw in 12 points and added five steals, leading Oklahoma State to a 53-36 win over Iowa State on Wednesday night.

Anderson sank 5 of 10 shots from the floor for the Cowboys (14-15, 7-10 Big 12 Conference). Moussa Cisse had eight points and snatched 12 rebounds as Oklahoma State dominated the boards 45-27. Bryce Williams scored nine from the bench.

A layup by Robert Jones pulled Iowa State (20-10, 7-10) even at 30 with 14:32 remaining. The result remained a tie until Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe snapped an offensive rebound to score by 11:41. The cowboys never chased again.

Izaiah Brockington had nine points in the first half and his jumper with 3 seconds left drew the Cyclones to 22-20 at halftime. Iowa State shot 29% in the first half, making just 1-of-10 from 3-point range. The Cyclones shot 28% in the second half, hitting 1 of 7 from long range.

Brockington finished the tournament with 13 points, three steals and two blocks for Iowa State. Tyrese Hunter had 12 points, three assists and three steals. Hunter needs four assists and seven steals to set ISU freshman records.

Iowa State, which ended a four-game winning streak, is up 18 in last season’s wins column. It’s the best turnaround in the history of the school and the Big 12. Another win would equal the national record set in 1980 by Murray State under Ron Greene and Ohio State under Jim O’Brien in 1999. The Cyclones are one of only three teams with at least nine Quad I wins this season.

Oklahoma State closes down the road at Texas Tech No. 12 Saturday. Then no. 23 Iowa State beat OSU 84-81 in OT at the first meeting this year. The state of Iowa shuts out the Big 12’s regular-season game at No. 3 Baylor off.
