2 Labor Day Weekend Concerts Planned in Tri-Lakes Area: A Benefit for Safe Families for Children and Annual Monu-Palooza | The grandstand

Labor Day weekend brings two concerts to the Tri-Lakes region.

First, on Friday, Monument-based rock band Ashtonz and School of Rock teamed up to present a concert benefiting Safe Families for Children.

The 7 p.m. show (doors open at 5 p.m.) at Boot Barn Hall in north Colorado Springs will feature Ashtonz and the School of Rock performance band.

Half of the proceeds go directly to Safe families for childrena Chicago-based nonprofit organization.

“Safe Families for Children is a great organization that not many people here know about and we’re excited to be working with them,” said Ashtonz frontman Charlie Searle.

The local chapter of Safe Families for Children volunteers and provides services such as transportation and parenting, and also provides material items such as diapers, car seats and meals for local families. Churches of all sizes and of various denominational or non-denominational backgrounds in the region play a significant role in recruiting volunteers to the organization as active partners.






Monument-based band Skin & Bones will also perform on Monu Palooza Sunday.




Safe Families for Children volunteers are tasked with bringing the organization into the community, supported by a team of professionals who passionately dedicate their lives to serving churches, building a volunteer base, children’s transition, mentoring family coaches, investing in volunteer screening and training and more.

And the music doesn’t stop here, like on SundaySeptember 4th At Limbach Park in Monument, Ashtonz will headline the sixth annual Monu-Palooza, Monument’s local music festival, on the eve of Labor Day. As in the past, the event will feature a line-up of seven bands from 12:30pm to around 8:30pm with food trucks on site to bid farewell to summer 2022.

In addition to Ashtonz, the lineup of bands for this year’s Monu-Palooza includes Hickabee, WireWood Station, Eighty3, Skin & Bones, Missy & the Dirty Secrets and Mosquito Pass.

The energetic but traditional country sound of Mosquito Pass will be back on Monu Palooza Sunday.
